About  Us

A personal note from Vladimir Fanshil & Eleanor Lyons

Live at Yours began in the most unexpected way — in our own living room. In 2020, when the world fell silent, we refused to believe that music should exist only on screens. So we gathered a handful of people, pulled the chairs close, and performed for twenty guests at a time. Those evenings were small, fragile, unforgettable — and they reminded us why we became musicians: to share something real, something human, something that only exists when people come together.

A New Way to Experience Music

In the first years, we travelled across NSW and the ACT, giving more than 50 performances in lounge rooms, coffee roasteries, tin sheds in the outback, art galleries, churches, synagogues and regional theatres.

It was in those intimate settings that we connected deeply with locals, listened to their feedback, and discovered what Australians truly value in live music: informal yet refined, relaxed yet deeply sincere, intimate yet world-class.

Those conversations shaped everything — from our welcoming tone to having no intervals, allowing the emotional arc to flow without interruption. This is how we crafted the ultimate listening experience we offer today: personal, natural and genuinely shared.

From a lounge room to a national stage

Live at Yours has now grown far beyond our living room — into concert spaces across Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra, Orange, Castlemaine and beyond — yet the essence remains unchanged.

Every venue is chosen for its story and atmosphere. Every performance is lit and shaped to feel close, warm and immersive. And every artist who joins us shares our belief in vulnerability, honesty and connection.

World-class artists, up close

Extraordinary artists, shared in intimate spaces — where every detail comes alive.

Committed to the next generation

As Live at Yours grows, so does our responsibility to young musicians. Through masterclasses, mentoring, and partnerships with ANAM and the Sydney Conservatorium, we help the next generation experience the same intimacy and inspiration that shaped our early years.

Thank you for being part of this journey!
We can’t wait to welcome you — up close, and personal.

Azithromycin in Australia: A Doctor’s Practical Review for Adults Over 30

Written from the perspective of an Australian general practitioner, this article explains how azithromycin can address real-life health worries — from whooping cough and chronic lung disease to children’s eye infections — while also being honest about safety and legal access.

Attention: When Infection Threatens Your Family, Work, and Peace of Mind

It’s 2 a.m. You’re awake again. Your chest feels heavy. Your child’s eyelid is red and swollen. A family member has been coughing for weeks. You worry about missing work, spreading illness to grandchildren, or ending up in hospital. As an Australian doctor, I see these fears every single day.

The good news is that one antibiotic — azithromycin — has a unique ability to target many of these problems with a simple, short course. For Australians over 30, that means less time off work, fewer trips to the pharmacy, and more confidence in managing family health.

Interest: What Makes Azithromycin Different?

Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that has been available in Australia for decades. Unlike older antibiotics that require three or four daily doses for 7–10 days, azithromycin concentrates inside infected tissues and continues working for several days after the last dose.

This means shorter courses, usually once daily for 3–5 days, and far fewer missed doses. For busy adults, parents, and carers, that convenience is invaluable. In Australia, azithromycin is available as tablets, capsules, and a child-friendly liquid suspension. Common brands include Zithromax and Azithromycin Sandoz, and it is PBS-subsidised for approved conditions.

Desire: Real-Life Uses That Matter to You

Below are specific situations where azithromycin can play an important role. I have focused on the concerns that Australian adults over 30 tell me about most often.

Azithromycin for Whooping Cough (Pertussis)

Whooping cough is not just a childhood illness. Adults can catch it too, often suffering weeks of exhausting coughing spells. If you or a family member has been exposed to pertussis, azithromycin is one of the recommended antibiotics to reduce spread. Early treatment can shorten the infectious period and protect vulnerable contacts — newborns, pregnant women, and elderly relatives.

For a grandparent worried about passing whooping cough to a new grandchild, this can be a genuine relief. It means less time isolating, less anxiety, and faster return to normal life.

Azithromycin for Paediatric Periorbital Cellulitis

Few things frighten parents more than a child with a red, swollen eyelid. Periorbital (preseptal) cellulitis is a skin infection around the eye, often caused by common bacteria. Azithromycin can be effective in selected children, especially those with penicillin allergy, and the once-daily liquid suspension makes it easier to administer.

In mild cases, oral azithromycin may help avoid hospital admission and reduce the stress of giving medicine multiple times a day. Always seek urgent medical review for any swelling around the eye, but it is reassuring to know an effective option exists.

Azithromycin for Chronic Lung Disease

If you have COPD, bronchiectasis, or recurrent chest infections, you know the cycle: every cold turns into weeks of coughing, green phlegm, and multiple antibiotics. Australian respiratory specialists often prescribe long-term, low-dose azithromycin to reduce exacerbations. It has both antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects, which can improve quality of life and reduce flare-ups.

For people over 30 living with chronic lung conditions, fewer exacerbations mean fewer hospital visits, better sleep, and more energy for family and work.

Azithromycin for Malaria Prevention

Planning a trip to a malaria-risk area? Azithromycin is not first-line for malaria prevention in Australia, but it has some antimalarial activity. In rare situations where standard antimalarials are unsuitable, a travel medicine doctor may consider it. Always consult a GP or travel clinic before travel rather than relying on azithromycin alone.

Azithromycin for Tuberculosis (TB) Adjunctive Therapy

Azithromycin is not a first-line tuberculosis drug. However, in complex or drug-resistant TB cases, it can sometimes be used as an adjunct under specialist guidance. This is a niche area, but it shows the drug’s broad role in respiratory infection management.

Table 1: Azithromycin at a glance for Australian adults
Condition How azithromycin helps Typical use
Whooping cough (pertussis) Reduces spread, shortens infectious period, protects close contacts Short course for cases and close household contacts
Paediatric periorbital cellulitis Treats skin infection around the eye; child-friendly suspension Oral, once daily in selected mild cases
Chronic lung disease (COPD, bronchiectasis) Reduces exacerbations; anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects Long-term low dose under specialist care
Malaria prevention Some antimalarial activity; not first-line Rarely used if standard options unsuitable
TB adjunctive therapy Adjunct in selected drug-resistant cases Specialist prescribing only

Safety First: QT Prolongation and Infant Risks

Like all medicines, azithromycin has risks. I want you to understand them so you can make an informed decision with your doctor.

Azithromycin and QT Prolongation Warning in Australia

Australian product information for azithromycin includes a warning about QT prolongation. The QT interval is a heart rhythm measurement. In susceptible people, azithromycin can prolong it, potentially triggering an abnormal heart rhythm.

If you have heart disease, take antiarrhythmic medicines, are elderly, or have low potassium or magnesium levels, your doctor may choose an alternative or arrange an ECG. This is not a reason to fear the drug — it is a reason to ensure your GP reviews your full medical history and medication list.

Azithromycin and Infantile Hypertrophic Pyloric Stenosis (Risk with Macrolides)

In very young infants, macrolide antibiotics — including azithromycin — have been associated with an increased risk of infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis (IHPS). This is a condition where the stomach outlet thickens and causes projectile vomiting.

The risk is highest in the first few weeks of life. Australian doctors are therefore cautious about prescribing macrolides to infants under 6 weeks of age unless the benefits clearly outweigh the risks. For older children and adults, this is not a relevant concern.

Can I Buy Azithromycin Online in Australia?

This is one of the most common questions I hear. The legal answer is clear: azithromycin is a Schedule 4 prescription-only medicine in Australia. You cannot legally buy it without a valid prescription from an Australian-registered medical practitioner.

Legitimate Australian online pharmacies — those with Australian registration and a physical pharmacy licence — will always require a valid prescription. They can deliver azithromycin to your home, often at PBS-subsidised prices if you have a Medicare card.

Please avoid overseas websites that offer azithromycin without a prescription. These products may be counterfeit, expired, or unsafe, and importing them could be illegal. The safest path is to consult your GP, receive a prescription if appropriate, and fill it at a trusted Australian pharmacy or registered online pharmacy.

Action: Take Control of Your Family’s Health Today

If you are tired of recurrent chest infections, worried about whooping cough exposure, caring for a child with a swollen eye, or simply want to know whether azithromycin is right for you, don’t wait.

Book a telehealth or in-person appointment with your GP. Ask directly: “Could azithromycin be appropriate for my condition?” Bring this article if it helps.

With the right prescription, you can access azithromycin safely from any Australian pharmacy or registered online pharmacy. You deserve an antibiotic that works with your life — not against it.

Disclaimer: This article is general medical information and does not replace individual medical advice. Always consult a qualified Australian doctor before starting, stopping, or changing any medication. Azithromycin is a prescription-only medicine and should only be used under medical supervision.
